Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using Our Service.

1. Interpretation and Definitions

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in the singular or in the plural.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:

1. “Smartscifrika” (referred to as either, “the Foundation”, “We”, “Us” or “Our” in this Agreement) refers to [SMARTSCIFRIKA SCIENCE COMMS & MENTORSHIP FOUNDATION].
2. “Affiliate” means the licenced lottery company in partnership with Smartscifrika responsible for providing the service
3. “Country” refers to [Nigeria].
4. “Device” means any device that can access the Service such as a cell phone.
5. “Service” refers to the Raffle draw to access Educational Scholarships.
6. “Terms and Conditions” (also referred to as “Terms”) mean these Terms and Conditions that form the entire agreement between You and Smartscifrika regarding the use of the Service.
7. “You” means the individual accessing or using the Service, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.
8. “Beneficiaries” refers to quarterly winners of the raffle draw

3. Acknowledgement

These are the Terms and Conditions governing the use of this Service and the agreement that operates between You and Smartscifrika. These Terms and Conditions set out the rights and obligations of all users regarding the use of the Service.

• Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on Your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions apply to all who access or use the Service.
• By accessing or using the Service You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If You disagree with any part of these Terms and Conditions then You may not access the Service.
• You represent that you are over the age of 18.  Smartscifrika does not permit those under 18 to use the Service.
• Your access to and use of the Service is also conditioned on Your acceptance of and compliance with the Privacy Policy of Smartscifrika.

4. The raffle draw is being run by SMARTSCIFRIKA SCIENCE COMMS & MENTORSHIP FOUNDATION (hereinafter referred to as “Smartscifrika”) in collaboration with Cash Token Africa

5. Eligibility to Enter

• The Raffle Draw is open to entrants over 18 years of age.
• Parents whose children are below 18years, may participate on behalf of their children who do not meet the 18 years eligibility requirement, Provided   that the child on whose behalf the parent(s) are participating , must either be a pupil in a  primary school or a student in a secondary school or must have gained admission into any Nigerian higher
• In entering the Raffle Draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win.
• There shall be no restrictions on the number of entries made per individual provided always that, a candidate who has won the raffle would not be eligible to play again for the period within which the scholarship fee subsists to allow a fair chance for other  participants.
• In the case of Scholarship for research, the participant must be a researcher actively engaged in a research or have a research initiative he or she is willing to promote.

Draws will be made quarterly, and winners of each level will be announced

8. Reward System

For Education Scholarship Category Winners, the amount won will be paid directly to their respective schools in the name
of the students.

9. Required Documents to access the scholarship award

• Means of Identification (Preferably Driver’s License, International Passport National Identification Number,
  Voter’s ID, and School ID)
• Phone number of the winner
• Letter of admission
• Personal account details or account details of the guardian
• Bill/ Payment advice including account details of the school

10. Data Collection and Usage

At SmartScifrika, we have a policy to treat all information of employees, customers, stakeholders and other interested
parties with the utmost care and confidentiality, we ensure that we gather, store and handle data fairly, transparently
and with respect towards individual rights.

11. Policy

This policy elaborates SmartSciFrika’s obligations to protect the personal information of all those who provide it to
SmartSciFrika and to ensure that all records that come into the possession of SmartSciFrika in the performance of its
duties and responsibilities are properly collected, securely protected, confidentially managed and not made accessible
to any third party without following due process or getting the consent of parties involved.

SmartSciFrika will use the personal information collected by it for the following purposes:

• To process and review draws and selections.
• To correspond with data owners who may be applicants, experts, consultants and partners.
• To conduct due diligence activities which may include identity verification.
• To provide ongoing service to applicants, experts, consultants, partners and other relevant organizations and
  individuals.
• To inform applicants, experts, consultants and partners about any relevant SmartSciFrika news and information,
  or any relevant news or information of SmartSciFrika’s partners or affiliates, including future Requests for
  Proposals or any other related information.

12. Terms of Disbursement 

1. 20% of the funds would be to sort personal issues
2. 80% of the funds would be paid to the institution to cover whatever needs it can cover Provided that
   the scholarship comes with a limited amount and may or may not cover the requirement of the said school.
   However, the amount being paid would cover for whatever it can cover within the stipulated time.
3. Secondary, University and Master students to get the 80% must show documentation that they are either in school
   or have gotten admission, else the funds would be kept until they can prove that they have admission into
   school.
4. As a foundation our sole aim is to ensure that the funds are used for the exact purpose and we track the
   progress of our students and support them through the process
5. In a case where the recipient of the scholarship is in the final year of schooling and there is an excess of
   funds after settling the school fees, the remaining funds will be used to set up a trust fund
   on behalf of the recipient pending when s/he is ready to further their studies or do a professional course/
   training, in which case, the institution will the credited directly until the fund is exhausted.
6. Winners will bear the cost of bank and other regulatory charges that may accrue.

13. Feedback and follow up

Empowering early career scientists transcends beyond making available the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory
and practice. SmartScifrika would ensure that the progress of beneficiaries is tracked.

Beneficiaries of raffles would be tracked in milestones Once all scholarship proceeding has been concluded,
beneficiaries undertakes to legally grant access to SmartScifrika to tell their stories as the journey progresses Major
milestone relevant to SmartScifrika are – At the beginning of the research or school term, the middle and end of the
compensated program.

Beneficiaries accepts to share notable events that Smartscifrika might not be aware of but relevant to their journey.
The essence of this is to help SmartScifirka measure the impact of the program as well as tell their story to the world

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted
to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law and the remaining
provisions will continue in full force and effect.

15. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material,
we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What
constitutes a material change will be determined at Our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use Our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised
terms. If You do not agree to the new terms, in whole or in part, please stop using the website and the Service.

16. Limitation of Liability

Smartscifrika does not accept any liability for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrants as a
result of either participating in the Raffle Draw or being selected for the scholarship.
